After you get that "yeah right!" look of disbelief from your class, direct them to TakingITGlobal.org, where an online international community of over 100,000 young people waits to answer all your students' questions and more.

TakingITGlobal.org is an online community for young people interested in making a difference and learning about the world around them. Students are introduced to an interactive platform that provides a forum for expression, information, connection and support for action in local and global communities.
Membership is free. By signing up, your students will be able to submit writing to Panorama, TakingITGlobal's online publication, add artwork to the Global Gallery and write entries in a personal blog. Better yet, your students will be able to interact with other young people around the world without ever leaving the classroom. Have your students visit http://takingitglobal.org/ to sign up.
Want more learning opportunities? Teachers have access to TIGed, a section of TakingITGlobal that helps teachers use the community for educational purposes. Using TIGed, teachers can give students access to global perspectives on global issues. Teachers can also create a virtual classroom - an online workspace for students that the teacher controls; search for classroom activities; or join the Educator Discussion Forum for tips, advice and new ideas.
There are three types of licenses for TIGed. An individual account for teachers is $30 US/Canadian per year, a small school account (15 transferable teacher licenses) is $195 US/Canadian per year, and a large school account (75 transferable teachers licenses) is $395 US/Canadian per year. For more information or to sign up, please visit http://www.takingitglobal.org/tiged/school/getstarted.html.
