Roll Play

From the Canadian co-producers of the This is Daniel Cook and This is Emily Yeung comes another wonderfully inventive and fun 13 part series!  Aimed at JK to Grade 2, Roll Play is all about moving, jumping and having fun while acting out stories with the Famous People Players. Kids love to pretend, they love stories and they LOVE getting physical.  Some of Canada’s most well known authors such as Jean Little, Frank B. Edwards and John Bianchi have written stories specially for the series and some of the best Canadian songwriters have contributed songs.  You will hear Great Big Sea, Prozzak, and Broken Social Scene just to name a few.  A narrator narrates the stories and the Famous People Players act it out.  As the puppets begin to tell a story over their signature black background, the Roll Play kids, against a wonderfully contrasting white background, mimic and become part of the same story.  As we cut between the two groups we see the kids copying, responding to and creating their own version of the puppets’ movement and the story.  Each episode contains 4 x 4 minute segments.  Single school and board level circulating pricing is available.  Great for use in Phys Ed with overlaps into Language Arts and Music.  Available from McNabb Connolly.

Get Outta Town

In this fast paced and very hip 13 part Canadian produced series, we join our adventurous hosts Joe and Barb as they travel to far off places all over world discovering how the everyday lives of the kids they meet differ from and are similar to what kids in Canada experience.   We will travel around the world exploring places such as Shanghai, Rome, Athens, Costa Rica,  and Mexico City just to name a few.  In each location, the host hooks up with a local teen who acts as a guide and together they explore exactly what life is like in these far off places.  We discover the kind of food they eat, what they like to do, where they like to go and along the way we learn about their history, culture, environment and what it is that is uniquely important to them in their part of the world.  Each episode is 24 minutes long.  Single school and board level circulating pricing is available.  For grades 6-10. Social Studies, World Studies, Multicultural Studies.  Available from McNabb Connolly.
